PASS (Professional Aviation Safety Specialists) held their annual convention in Seattle, WA from 7/11 - 7/13. The labor union represents FAA technicians and inspectors across the country … Guest speakers included FAA Administrator Randy Babbitt and Teri Bristol (FAA/ATO Technical Operations VP).

The world’s largest passenger airliner made it’s first appearance at Miami International yesterday … The streets were lined with people trying to catch a glimpse of the aircraft as it touched down on runway 9. Lufthansa is now offering daily flights from Frankfurt to Miami ! Looking forward to getting more images of this behemoth in the future …

Butterfly World, located in Pompano, FL is a wonderful place to relax and take pictures. I’ve been there several times in the past and always come back with a memory card full of great shots. I took these back in ‘09 but haven’t had a chance to post them until now.

Low light photography is always a challenge. Especially with these air traffic control simulators at Broward College’s ATC laboratory located in the Miramar Campus. Thankfully, the FAA simulators I had prior experience with were identical to these and the shoot went well.

Broward College’s 2011 Student Life Awards ceremony was held April 29th at the Seminole Hard Rock Cafe in Davie, FL. It was a relaxed, festive atmosphere that produced many great candid shots … My first time to the Hard Rock as well. An impressive facility !

I was able to get back over to Sun ‘n Fun this year covering a variety of FAA activities with air traffic controllers and technical operations. This time was much more challenging though due to poor weather, additional coverage tasks and limited mobility (no golf cart). I still had a fantastic time though and managed to get some great shots … Thanks again to the AT staff, controllers and tech ops personnel for all your support ! Broward College held it’s annual Earth Day celebration yesterday in front of the central campus library … it was a perfect day with a large turnout. There were many booths, activities and a great two man band as well ! Unfortunately, I dropped the 5D during the event and damaged the 580EX speedlight. UGH !

Broward College president David Armstrong surprised a few exceptional teachers on Monday with the Endowed Teaching Chair Award … two teachers from each of the three campuses received the honor.
